Dear God, here we are in the season of Easter
This time of resurrection.
This time of hope and promise.
Bless our families, our cities, our country.
Help us to remain your Easter people
Miraculous God, come to us now, even as your Son came to those first disciples on the shores of Galilee. Speak your peace to our hearts. Touch us with your Holy Spirit. Reveal your word, that we may hear your message this day, and live as your disciples in the days and years to come. In Christ’s name, we pray. Amen
Gracious God, we come ready to do your work in the world. We come bringing our talents and passion that are constantly aided by your Holy Spirit. We thank you for your Spirit, for we are nothing without it, but with it we can achieve and accomplish great things. We ask for your continued grace and blessings so we may do your work, like your disciples, and to do it with all the zeal you call us to.
John 15 - I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches:
Central United Church, Windsor service - fruits of the spirit - LOVE
the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God. Rom 8: 26-27
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight.
Beloved God, we are humbled today by Jesus’ prayer retreat, as he prayed to you for his disciple’s protection. Like Jesus, we claim this as a time of retreat for ourselves, and we come seeking your blessings on us and our work in the world. We are daring to call ourselves your disciples. We know that it takes courage, compassion, and intentionality to be your disciples, and so we pray that you bless us with those, so we may do your work in the world.
